How Swimming Helps Jennifer Leigh Stay Healthy and Happy
We’re all missing swimming right now as we shelter in place in the midst of the Corona Virus pandemic. I’m getting my fix by rewatching all the interviews I have done for this documentary. Hopefully awaiting more to come this summer.
I interviewed Jennifer Leigh last summer a couple hours before the start of the county meet. (She was extremely calm.)
Jennifer has been swimming on the Woodlands Swim Team since she was 6. She has also been diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder known as POTS - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. She describes here how swimming has helped her deal with the symptoms, which include dizzyness (flip turns are the worst), fatigue, weakness and stomach problems. It’s an inspiring story.
Her swimming story is equally impressive- she went from getting the “B” high point as a 6 year old because everyone else got DQ’d in breaststroke to a Top Ten county swimmer in IM and backstroke last summer. In the full documentary, you’ll hear more about what her team means to her and what she has learned over the years.
I hope you and your family are safe and doing well in the midst of this pandemic. If you find yourself hanging out on Facebook a little more these days, please share this blog with your friends.
Hopefully we’re back in the water soon, enjoying the time on deck with our friends and continuing with production of this film.
