Trailer: Swim County USA

I thought by now this project would be complete. Obviously, everyone’s plans changed during the pandemic. But now, we’re moving forward.

After combing through all my 2019 footage and interviews, I can show people clearly what this film is about. It’s a portrait of the community, what makes swimming unique and the role rec swimming plays here in the social fabric of Contra Costa County.

Last night I went to my first meet since the County Championships 22 months ago. Honestly, I was reluctant. We’re still wearing masks and I thought the vibe wouldn’t be the same. As soon as I arrived, the joy came back. Seeing friends I had missed for so long and hundreds of kids and parents relaxed and having fun brought tears to my eyes.

I hope you enjoy this trailer. But this project isn’t finished yet. I’m still looking for more images, footage and stories. I’m counting on your help to make this a success. Here are some ways you can contribute:

  1. Share this blog with your family and friends near and far.

  2. Share my posts with your friends on social media.

  3. Contribute archival photos, film or digital recordings of rec swimming activities in years past.

  4. If you have a story to share, please contact me.
